Breathwork in Ireland.

Gentle, nature-rooted breathwork. Led by two GPBA Accredited facilitators, with a home on the Atlantic edge of Donegal.

The Exhale Awakening offers online breathwork sessions, in-person retreats at Malin Head, and a GPBA Recognised Training pathway for breathwork facilitators. For anyone in Ireland ready to breathe a little more deeply.

The Exhale Awakening

is co-founded by Sharyn with a Why and Marie Doherty. Two teachers, two gifts, one school, rooted on both sides of the Irish Sea.

Marie grew up in Carndonagh, at the tip of the Inishowen Peninsula in Co. Donegal. She has been teaching and holding space across Ireland for over 30 years. The in-person retreats take place at Malin Head, where the land runs out and the ocean begins and there is nowhere left to be anything other than present.

To our knowledge, The Exhale Awakening is the only GPBA Accredited breathwork school physically rooted in Donegal. Not a visiting presence. This is home ground.

If you are in Ireland, north, south, or anywhere in between, and breathwork has been calling you, you are welcome here.

Breathwork

is the conscious use of the breath

to support the nervous system. Not performance. Not discipline. A gentle, deliberate practice that may help the body move out of chronic stress and into something closer to ease.

It is one of the few things you can do that directly influences your autonomic nervous system, the part of you that runs without being asked. Every deliberate breath is a quiet message to the system that it is safe to soften now.

Birdsong and silence are woven throughout every session at The Exhale Awakening. Not for atmosphere. As a deliberate signal to the nervous system that it is safe to arrive.

MARIE DOHERTY

grew up in Carndonagh,

at the tip of the Inishowen Peninsula in Co. Donegal. She has been in classrooms, community halls, and circles across Ireland for over 30 years, teaching, holding space, and learning what it means to tend to people well.

She is a GPBA Accredited breathwork facilitator and co-founder of The Exhale Awakening. When she breathes with you, the land she grew up on comes with her.

THE DONEGAL RETREAT

Date TBC Autumn 2026.

Three days at the edge of Ireland. Breathwork, rest, and the kind of silence that only happens when the Atlantic is the nearest thing to you.

The Exhale Gathering at Malin Head runs across three days: care of your facilitation craft, care of your business, and a full day of breathwork, rest, and nourishment where nothing is required of you. Held in one of the most elemental landscapes in Ireland. Facilitated by Sharyn with a Why and Marie Doherty.

BREATHWORK TRAINING IN IRELAND.

The Exhale Awakening’s Breathwork Facilitator Apprenticeship is a 400-hour GPBA Recognised Training qualification. It runs online, which means it is available to practitioners anywhere in Ireland without travelling to London or Dublin to train.

For Irish practitioners, there is also the Donegal Retreat as part of the training pathway. The qualification. The land. The community.

If facilitation is calling you, a Quiet Conversation is where it begins.
